Where to put the accent
In greek, every word which is more than one syllable has a written accent.
This accent indicates where to stress the word. See the following words.
θάλασσα , βάρκα , παραλία
It is always on a vowel and it can only be on one of the last three syllables.
A few short words get an accent too.
πού , πώς , ή
