Introduction to declension

Within each gender, nouns follow declension patterns according to their endings (in nominative case).

As a simple introduction, let's see what it gives for some common endings.

Masculine
eg. ο φάρος - the headlight
ο φάρος        οι φάροι
του φάρου    των φάρων
τον φάρο      τους φάρους

Feminine
eg. η βάρκα - the boat
η βάρκα        οι βάρκες
της βάρκας   των βαρκών
την βάρκα     τις βάρκες

Neutral
eg. το νησί - the island
το νησί          τα νησιά
του νησιού    των νησιών
το νησί          τα νησιά

Note: For each example, the 1st column is singular, the 2nd is plural. Then the lines give the nominative, genitive and accusative cases.
