Multiple genders

Some words exist under several genders. It depends who or what you are talking about.

As an example, this is the case for 'the friend'.

Masculine

ο φίλος οι φίλοι
του φίλου των φίλων
τον φίλο τους φίλους

Feminine
η φίλη οι φίλες
της φίλης των φίλων
την φίλη τις φίλες

Neutral
το φίλο τα φίλα
του φίλου των φίλων
το φίλο τα φίλα

Note: We can see that ο φίλος has the same declension pattern than ο φάρος , whereas η φίλη and το φίλο follow 'new' declension patterns.
